Review HP Pavilion dv6-6110eg (Llano) Notebook
Notebook Hardware Guide
The Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG-2414G75Mnbb is a good first try at improving the TimelineX series.Asus Eee PC 1000 battery However, the new TimelineX generation is not flawless; the Aspire TimelineX 5830TG has new strengths and old weaknesses. The fresh and slim design, input devices and the latest ports gave us a positive impression. However, the case sturdiness and the modest, reflective display are two big weaknesses which still afflict the TimelineX series.Asus Eee PC 701 battery Acers decision to switch to the new Intel Core i5-2410M dual-core CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT 540M,Asus Eee PC 900 battery the new dedicated graphics chip, allows the notebook to deliver a good deal of performance. The biggest criticism, besides the display, is the "Thermal Throttling" of the CPU at a relatively low temperature. Acer is trying to solve this problem for the buyers of the notebook.Asus M9 battery Additional positive features are: the improved cooling system (emissions), good speakers,Asus M9A battery and impressive battery life. The overall positive impression is damaged slightly by the integrated battery. Swapping out the battery is no longer possible. Asus M9F battery Overall a fresh new look for a brand new laptop.Asus M9J battery It has great performance and connectivity thanks to its latest hardware but it also has a few flaws. Still, a good package for multimedia enthusiasts for the current entry-level price of around 700 Euro with a 24 month guarantee.Asus M9V battery The new design fitting the TimelineX style, the new Isolation keyboard, the good battery life, and the low power usage.Asus A8 battery A slimmer Windows installation, better sturdiness in the area of the keyboard and even the display deserves better brightness/contrast.Asus A9T battery The CPU Thermal Throttling starts from a relatively low temperature. Acer hopes to improve this by updating the BIOS.Asus U5 battery Mainstream multimedia notebooks with the latest hardware.Asus M6700N battery These include: the Asus N53SN with GT 550M, the Dell XPS 15 with identical CPU and GPU, the Schenker XMG A501 with various configurations and the Aspire 5750G Consumer-Notebook from Acer. Asus U5F battery The power consumption is as expected on a low level in standby mode and in a deactivated state.Asus W3000 battery The consumption is slightly higher than what current Sandy Bridge laptops achieve in idle mode. The installed hardware's potential is very evident in load. Asus W3000A battery Acer Aspire Timeline X 4830TGThe long battery life of up to 6.5 hours makes the Acer Aspire 4830TG to a perfect travel companion. Asus W3A battery Moreover, it is fairly handy with a weight of only 2.1 kg and the small size.Asus W3Z battery The 14 inch display has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels,Asus W1 battery which is more than sufficient for this screen. However, the LED backlit HD CineCrystal High Brightness display reflects a lot of the surroundings. Asus W1000 battery Acer has proved to have a good eye as it selected the hardware.Asus M67 battery The Core i5 CPU, which is standardly clocked with 2.3 GHz, is automatically overclocked up to 2.9 GHz when needed via the Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. Asus M67N battery The 4 GB RAM is fully sufficient for the system.Asus M68 batteryThe 750 GB hard disk has an equally good size. As to the graphics, Acer doesn't only rely on the processor's HD graphics. There is also a GeForce GT 540M from nVidia in the notebook as a dedicated graphics, which is automatically enabled in games or applications.Asus M68N battery In the opinion of the author, the recommended retail price of 799 euros is more than justified for this configuration and performance.Asus M6000 battery Webcam: Acer Crystal Eye 1.3 MP HD WebCam, Notebook, 90 Watt Netzteil mit Netzkabel, Handbücher, Asus M6000N battery Acer Clear.fi, Acer Backup Manager , Acer ePower Management , Acer eRecovery Management , Acer Crystal Eye, Acer Video Conference Manager, Acer Accessory Store, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Adobe Reader 9.1, eSobi , Microsoft Office Starter 2010, 24 Months Warranty, Asus M6700 battery
Review Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750
Environmentally friendly typing.Dell Inspiron 1545 battery Green IT is currently all the rage. Can the Logitech's Wireless Keyboard Solar K750 contribute to this? We've tested that out and taken a closer look at the wireless solar-powered keyboard. dell xps m1530 battery We've taken a close look at the Wireless Solar Keyboard K570, Dell inspiron 1721 battery the first and only solar-powered keyboard from the Swiss peripheries manufacture Logitech. A special feature of the input device is that it has two solar cells, which can charge a small battery and also supply enough energy for indoor lighting conditions. The device is the second keyboard with the so-called "incurvé keys"; the Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 also has such keys. In short, Incurvé,means that each of the keys are curved inwardly in the area where the characters are printed. dell vostro 1700 battery The keyboard comes in a flat cardboard box. After removing it from the labeled packaging, dell latitude e4300 battery we took out a second, non-labeled cardboard packaging. This contains the keyboard itself as well as the spartan accessories. The additional utensils include a so-called Logitech unifying receiver, a wireless extender (USB extension adapter) and a cleaning cloth. A software CD isn't included. At second glance we discovered a download link on the inside of the inner packaging where additional software and an instruction manual in PDF can be downloaded.dell latitude e5500 battery Drivers are otherwise unnecessary. After connecting the Unifying-receiver, dell xps m1730 battery a small USB-radio receiver with 2.4 GHz-technology, the keyboard is found immediately once turned on, and is ready for operation in just a few seconds. But the downside is that the device is officially only designed for Windows XP, Vista and 7. That means that Mac OS X users remain on the sidelines. dell studio 1737 battery In terms of design, Logitech focused on achieving a flat construction. The keyboard therefore measures a mere 8 mm thick, and that goes also for the entire case, which doesn't have any sort of wedge shape. dell latitude e5400 battery The upper side has been kept in a glossy black piano-plastic finish while the underside is made of a matte white plastic.dell inspiron e1505 battery Together with the solar cells, the glossy black plastic looks classy. But it has its drawbacks when put to use as it seems to magically attract fingerprints and dust. Subtle scratches also appear quite quickly. The cleaning cloth will hardly get a break. Logitech would have been better served by using a hard-wearing matte material. dell latitude e6500 battery But there's no complaining about the way it types.Dell inspiron 1300 battery The keyboard's case is quite stable and can only be twisted with both hands. It gives good feedback when writing. The key stroke is short and crisp like on a taught-sitting notebook keyboard. There aren't any rattles when typing, the keys sit securely and are well cushioned. Dell vostro 1400 battery The only potential weak point may become apparent after some time in terms of the two delicate feet supports on the underside.Dell inspiron 1420 battery These are so thin that handling it roughly could cause them to break along their equally thin hinges. Dell inspiron 1521 battery The layout of the keys is fitting of a full-fledged keyboard. Special keys, dell studio 1535 battery however, are nowhere to be found. But like on laptops, one can control special functions with F1 to F12-keys via the FN key, such as for instance playback- and volume controls.Dell inspiron 1525 battery Otherwise there is an on/off switch and a test-switch on the upper right side.Dell latitude e6400 battery The on/off button connects the keyboard with the radio receiver. When the button is pressed, two simple LEDs signal whether there is enough light available for operation (green), or if there isn't (red). The swappable ML2032 Lithium Mangan button-cell battery delivers power in the absence of ambient light. Dell latitude d620 battery When in use, the battery always showed a high level of charge between 98 and 100%.Dell latitude d630 battery When it got too dark, the ambient light through the test button first show its exclusive desktop illumination with a standard lamp was shown in the background. In daylight, the indicator of the Solar app was always in the upper green area. According to Logitech, when fully charged, it should last up to two months. Dell inspiron 1526 battery According to Logitech's website, a defective battery can only be replaced in their own replacement part shop. But no such battery was listed at the time of testing. If needed, the user can swap the battery themselves via a small flap. Dell inspiron 6400 battery In terms of software, the Logitech website offers a Solar app and the SetPoint 6.20 program. Dell inspiron 1501 battery The Solar app proved to be practical. It shows the battery's state of charge as well as the available illumination strength in Lux. With SetPoint one can configure the special key functions as well as new devices for the Unifying-receiver. This can control multiple devices such as for instance a wireless Logitech mouse. Dell vostro 1000 battery When using SetPoint we were bothered by the way the mouse-pointer speed would be reset to system standards when shutting down the software completely or when canceling a configuration. Dell vostro 1520 battery The Logitech Solar Wireless Keyboard K750 proves itself to be a resource-saving premium alternative in the army of wireless keyboards. Dell inspiron 1720 battery Contrary to the norm, the Logitech doesn't require the use of two or more AAA-chargeable batteries or batteries, but rather makes do with only one button-cell battery thanks to solar energy. The solid construction and the good typing feel leave no room for critique and perform at a high level. Dell vostro 1500 battery In terms of critique we would name the piano-paint surfaces. Dell latitude d820 battery This is also a matter of taste, but one can't deny that the visible fingerprints and the higher susceptibility to scratches are a disadvantage. The range of accessories was a bit slim in our opinion. We would have hoped at least for a software CD considering the notably high price. Dell latitude d830 battery All in all, dell studio 17 battery the positive qualities outweigh the negatives and the keyboard fulfills the high demands which accompany its function as a solid input device. Its elegant appearance takes it one step further. Those looking to save a bit of dough can get a wireless keyboard for half the price of the K750 with the smaller Logitech Wireless Keyboard K340 model. But of course this model is missing the forward-thinking solar technology.Dell studio 15 battery The elegant design in the piano-paint look, the good, taught construction , the pleasant typing feel and the informative Solar app.dell studio 1535 battery
Review Schenker XMG A501 Notebook
Downgrade. Acer Ferrari 3400 battery The sound machine, Asus N73JQ, impressed in November 210 with high-end workmanship, exclusive materials and a Full HD screen. The predecessor no longer has a quad core, dual HDD and Full HD. In return, the price has been reduced.Acer Aspire 1450 battery ASUS N73SV-V1G-TY282V: Premium multimedia made in Taiwan or weak hardware in a strong case?Acer Aspire 1410 battery In November 2010, a genuine multimedia desktop replacement went through our tests. The N73JQ-TZ087V with a fat quad core processor (Core i7-740QM) Acer Aspire 1640 battery and GeForce GT 425M. Price: 1270 euros. The graphics performance was a bit too weak for gaming, but the so-called ICEpower & Sonic Master Audio System presented itself from its best side. Even the Full HD screen with great viewing angles was the perfect partner for high definition movie entertainment via BluRay (ROM).Acer Aspire 1650 battery The demand was likely low due to the high price.Acer Aspire 1680 battery This can only be guessed because the predecessors are on the virtual shelves today. Even the most expensive version (N73SV-V1G-TY279V) with a Core i7 2630QM costs less than 1000 euros (2x500 GB, WXGA++). We opt for low cost and have brought the N73SV-V1G-TY282V with a Core i5-2410M (2x2.30 GHz) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M into our editorial office.Acer Aspire 1690 battery In which points have cutbacks been made in the previous showpiece model,Acer Aspire 3000 battery N73JQ-TZ087V ? Has the workmanship also changed? What does the quality of the 17.3 inch WXGA++ screen look like? Is the N73SV still a milestone in laptop acoustics? All answers in this review.Acer Aspire 3500 battery Base cover has to be removed underneath the keyboardThe N73SV's heavy and large case is impressive at first glance.Acer Aspire 5000 battery Of course, not with elegant portability – the 3448 grams radiate robustness and high quality. Nothing has changed in comparison to the N73JQ in this regard – but a few details have. The screen no longer is hidden behind a Plexiglas plate (edge-to-edge display bezel). This isn't much of a loss though, especially since the screen reflects intensely either way.Acer Aspire 5510 battery Otherwise, all remains as usual.Acer Extensa 2300 batteryThe majority of the surfaces are made of brushed aluminum (lid, wrist-rest, loudspeaker cover). The wrist-rest is massive and can't be depressed anywhere. The lid's torsional stiffness has suffered though. It can be twisted to an extent when it's picked up at the corners. Its aluminum surface can only be depressed marginally with a lot of force in the center.Acer Extensa 3000 battery The hinges are firm in place and are pulled tight. A firm stop indicates the maximum opening angle of about 135 degrees. It is sufficient for use on the lap.Acer Extensa 4100 battery The plastic base tray can't be dent, not even at the vents. Acer TravelMate 2300 battery We find the dual HDD option (1x500 GB installed, 1 x 2.5 inch SATA unoccupied), the main memory (2 modules) and the WLAN module underneath a larger maintenance cover. However, the cover can only be removed when the screws underneath the keyboard are loosened. There is no longer a third RAM slot underneath it as was the case in the N73JQ.Acer TravelMate 2310 battery The 17.3 incher brings along a lot of interfaces. Nevertheless,Acer TravelMate 4000 battery certain needs haven't been considered. Unfortunately, there is only one USB 3.0 port. The other three are the usual USB 2.0 ports. eSATA, available in the N73JQ, has been removed without replacement. Retrofitting interfaces, e.g. iLINK, is not possible due to the lack of an ExpressCard slot.Acer TravelMate 4010 battery The position of the rear connections (2 USBs, LAN) makes sense. Cables for HDMI or VGA only occupy one side of the desk. The analog out is combined with the optical S/PDIF.Acer TravelMate 4020 battery WLAN in the latest draft n is just as much standard as an integrated Bluetooth module (3.0 +HS) gigabit Ethernet. If you have a T.V. Acer TravelMate 4060 battery set with an INTEL WIRELESS DISPLAY support, the Centrino Wireless N 1000 adapter and core processor provide a wireless video transmission to the television. The software "My WiFi" technology (Intel MWT) and wireless display has to be installed and enabled.Acer TravelMate 4100 battery There is no recovery data carrier for Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit). Acer TravelMate 4500 battery An according DVD has to be burnt with the AI Recovery Burner. LiteFrame, a tool for taking pictures or recording videos with the webcam, can shoot pictures in 1600x1200 pixels. The webcam however lacks brightness in this resolution and needs a long exposure time for reasonably focused pictures. The same applies to videos, which can only be recorded in a much lower resolution. The results in medium resolutions are very good in daylight. But picture noise and streaks develop in poor lighting conditions.Acer TravelMate 4600 battery The equipment with the tools: PowerDVD10Acer SQU-401 battery (creator), PowerDirector V8 (editor), MediaShow Espresso (converter) and Asus Video Magic (creator and burn) belong to the pre-installed (full version) software. The user can thus start with video editing without additional costs right away.Acer SQU-525 battery Asus bids a 24 month warranty with pick up & return service. A warranty extension to three years is available for about 80 euros. It has to be activated within 90 days.Acer Aspire 9100 battery As to the keyboard unit, Asus regrettably hasn't made any improvements. It remains to be a mistake like in the N73JQ. Acer Aspire 9500 battery The stroke is as spongy and soft as before, which is due to the yielding key surface. Consequently, the clear key drop isn't effective. The arrow keys are very crowded despite the vast available room.Acer TravelMate 290 battery The multimedia control left of the keyboard allows fast input during movies.Acer TravelMate 291 battery Beside the usual play/stop/fast forward/rewind, the volume is also controlled or muted here. The clicking keys light up weakly depending on the state. A button above the hot keys switches among the Asus energy modes (silent office, etc.).Acer TravelMate 292 battery The mouse replacement is made of hard, slightly textured plastic.Acer TravelMate 293 batteryThe surface is touch-sensitive up to its edges. The pad doesn't have any vertical or horizontal scroll bar. Scrolling is however possible via multi-finger gestures. Thus, implemented scroll bars are no longer mandatory.Acer TravelMate 2350 battery The keys click loudly, but first after a difficult to overcome pressure point. Unfortunately, the noise is so loud that it soon gets annoying.Acer TravelMate 4050 battery The 17.3 inch screen can only meet the high expectations with a viable brightness.Acer TravelMate 4150 battery The screen has a resolution of 1600x900 pixels (WXGA++; 16:9). If you need a very clearly arranged desktop, you can work well with this resolution. The display has a weakness with a low contrast of 163:1.Acer TravelMate 4650 battery
Review Sony Vaio VPC-SA2Z9E/B (i7, SSD, HD 6630M) Subotebook
Wireless communication is up to date: Gigabit LAN, draft n WLAN, Bluetooth and a Qualcomm Gobi HSDPA module for mobile Internet access. The SIM card for the latter is inserted into the base plate underneath a hard rubber cap. Acer Aspire 5010 battery The SB models' docking solution, VGP-PRS20 (about 129 euros) also fits on our SA device. Please see our detailed review of the docking station and battery slice. In addition to HDMI, VGA and 2 RJ45s (LAN), it supplies four USB ports. The HDMI, VGA & RJ45 on the laptop can no longer be used when the 13 incher is on the station. The battery slice, Acer TravelMate 240 battery The single keys have a clear gap (four millimeters). Since there is no number pad, Enter, Shift and Backspace can exploit the room. They have been made full-sized. The number pad can be mapped on the letter keys via the Num key. The entire work field is made up of one homogeneous surface. The keys are in a small basin.Acer TravelMate 2000 battery The clear pressure point and medium key drop are suitable for typing long texts on the keys. Typing is possible right away and is accurate despite even keys. The key stroke is soft and very quiet over the entire surface. The keys would be perfect if they had a conic depression. The keys' backlight is praiseworthy. It can be set to adaptive or permanent-on via the Control Center.Acer TravelMate 2500 battery The touchpad has a diameter of 10.5 centimeters. The one or other 15.6 incher could take this size as an example.Acer Aspire 1360 battery The matt surface has smooth gliding traits without being dull. Horizontal and vertical scroll bars aren't marked on the Alps multi-touchpad, but they exist. When these fields are disabled (enabled in default), you have an enormous touch surface available. The keys have a very clear and muffled-clicking pressure point. This is pleasant, but the key drop is unfortunately very short, which could prove to be hindering when clicking fast (matter of accommodation).Acer Aspire 1520 battery Sony's 13.3 inch display has a resolution of 1600x900 pixels (WXGA++), thus higher than the SB models (WXGA 1366x768). This should be a resolution suitable for work for most (but not all) purposes since many windows fit on the desktop. The matt display can't convince us in terms of colors, though. The contrasts are weak and the color spectrum is narrow.Acer Aspire 1610 battery We assess a contrast of 151:1 with a black value of 1.9 cd/m2. Higher contrasts deliver bright, vivid colors.Acer Aspire 1620 battery Colors look dull and pallid on the Vaio SA. The Adobe RGB (t) and sRGB (t) color spectrums are failed by far (pictures 1 & 2). We place the "VAIO Premium display" of a Vaio Z13 next to it for comparison (AdobeRGB coverage). Picture 5 shows the comparison to a mainstream screen from a ThinkPad Edge for 400 euros (also 13.3 inch). Our Vaio SA1 only has a marginally larger color gamut, which is disappointing in the price range of over 2000 euros.Acer Aspire 1660 battery The Vaio SA2 can impress with its maximum brightness.Acer Aspire 3010 battery We measure very good average of 281 cd/m2 on the maximum brightness level. This is very close to the maximum of 287 cd/m2 because the screen is very evenly illuminated (93%). It's not reduced in battery mode. A light sensor modifies the screen's brightness according to the lighting conditions. That saves energy, annoying manual adjustments and is easy on the eyes.Acer Aspire 5010 battery We disabled the sensor in the Vaio Control Center for the brightness evaluations, the battery tests and the outdoor pictures. The brightness can't be set any higher than the sensor allows when the automatic is enabled.Acer TravelMate 370 battery The 13.3 incher is well suitable for the few sunny days of 2011 due to its AR coating. Reflections are totally eliminated. A good outdoor suitability is created in line with the very good brightness. We don't even have to look around for a shady place.Acer TravelMate 371 battery The dual Core i7-2620M (2x2.70 GHz, 32nm) has already provided power in business machines, such as HP's EliteBook 8460p. The processor's Turbo Boost 2.0 can clock up to 3.4 GHz (one core) and the "Dynamic Range @ Turbo Frequency Limits" can even add a bit of clock providing there is a sufficient cooling. We will devote ourselves to the themes clock rate and throttling in "Temperature".Acer TravelMate 372 battery The dual core 2620M (TDP 35 watts) is always installed when a 45 watt 2630QM (quad core) goes beyond the cooling limits as it would be the case in 13 inch devices. It is frequently used in high performance 13 inchers, e.g. Acer's Aspire TimelineX 3830TG-2628G12nbb or Dell's Vostro 3350, due to the CPU's low idle power consumption.Acer TravelMate 374 battery The Radeon HD 6630M isn't actually designed for subnotebooks because of its strong performance (and high power consumption). Nevertheless, Sony installs it into the SA, SB and CA range. Moreover, there is adequate 8 GB of RAM and an extremely fast Samsung RAID0 SSD that bids a memory capacity of 256 GB. Again, the S range typical Speed Mode switch that disables the HD 6630M is present.Acer TravelMate 380 battery The i7-2620 scores 9452 points in Cinebench R10 Multi. That is a bit more than an i5-2540M with 9154 points (also 4 threads). Its quad core brother, 2720QM (8 threads), manages 14273 points (+35%) in test notebooks. We see: The processing speed's difference compared with a Core i5 is low.Acer TravelMate 381 battery Is the slim and light 13.3 incher's cooling efficient enough to keep the CPU performance upright during consistent load? We look at the i7-2620 in various other devices. Almost all 2620M candidates reach about 9450 points (+/- 150) in Cinebench R10 Multi. Only the Apple Macbook Pro 13 inch 2011-02 MC724LL/A fails this rate due to throttling.Acer TravelMate 382 battery Four of eight laptops achieved 3.1 points in the Cinebench R11.5 CPU 64 bit test. The Vaio SA2 test device doesn't belong to them because it is on the same level as the Vostro 3350 and XMG A501 with 3.0, respectively 2.9 points (-3%). Again, it is only the aforementioned MacBook that merely reaches 2.6 points due to throttling (-16%). Short: The i7-2620M calculates on the expected level in pure CPU performance. The cooling seems sufficient for normal load scenarios.Acer TravelMate 383 battery What does the processing performance look like together with CPU, graphics, RAM and SSD? PCMark Vantage and PCMark 7 provide the information. The total results of 10833, respectively 3448 points are very high, but not as good as expected in the case of Vantage. The considerably less expensive consumer, XMG A501 (Crucial Real SSD C300) achieves 10833 PCMark Vantage points with the same CPU (PCM7 score not available). Acer Travelmate 2400 battery PCMark 7 (3448 points) really likes the Samsung SSD disk because only gaming laptops and workstations equipped with a 2630QM or 2920XM (+SSD) can reach higher scores. The Alienware M18x (4579), the Fujitsu Celsius H710 WXP11DE (3695) and the XMG P501 PRO (4208) would be mentioned here. Normal 2620M laptops without SSD are located as low as 2000 points (Vostro 3350).Acer Travelmate 3210 battery The named behemoths also have better graphic cards, and thus their advantage should actually be greater. Therefore, it seems remarkable that a small 13.3 incher can close in on the machines of the gaming and workstation sector with the mere support of an SSD. Acer Travelmate 3220 battery The reason for this high score in application performance is the Samsung SSD's fast accesses. They drive the PCMark Vantage's HDD score up to 15599 points (Vaio Z13 with quad SSD: 13055). The speedy accesses let the music, productivity and communication score skyrocket. The productivity score is 13282 points (Vaio Z13: 9818). High performance laptops with a rotating hard disk (7200 rpm) achieve 6200 at best (e.g. HP Elitebook 8540w).Acer Travelmate 3274 battery 6.7Windows 7 Experience IndexProcessorCalculations per second7.1Memory (RAM)Memory operations per second7.5GraphicsDesktop performance for Windows Aero6.7Gaming graphics3D business and gaming graphics6.7Primary hard diskDisk data transfer rate7.9 PCMark Vantage 10833 pointsAcer Aspire 5500 battery 3DMark11 (P 1023) runs a bit slower with a GT 540M (P ~950 points above all test devices). The Dell Vostro 3550, with the same CPU/GPU configuration as our Vaio, achieves 990 points and is thus almost equal. To achieve more points, an HD 6770M (~1500) or a GT 555M (~1300) would be due. However, such GPUs are only built into 15 and 17 inchers.Acer Aspire 3600 battery The classic 3DMark 2006 (1280x1024) finishes on the Radeon midrange category with 7057 points, which is slightly below a GT 540M (~8000 @XMG A501 with 2620M). A GT 525M (7400) together with a strong CPU achieves about the same score. For example in Dell's XPS 15z (2620M).Acer Travelmate 2400 battery The throughput rates in the "hard disk" tests are gigantic: 869/633 MB/s (read/write AS SSD) or even 708 MB/s in HDTune (read). The previous read/write leader, the Samsung 900X3A, is defeated with 467/306MB/s (AS SSD).Acer Travelmate 3210 battery One alternative at a similar price is the Sony VAIO Z21Q9E/B with an external AMD Radeon HD 6650M (connected via LightPeak cable),Acer Travelmate 3220 battery which will be launched onto the German market in the next days. Acer Travelmate 3274 battery Consumers will take a look at the Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG-2628G12nbb (starts at 1200 euros), a 13.3 incher with Core i7-2620M, 120 GB SSD and NVIDIA GeForce GT540M. 2 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 Kensington Lock, 1 Docking Station Port, Audio Connections: line out, Card Reader: Memory Stick Duo, SD, 1 Fingerprint Reader, battery sliceAcer Aspire 5500 battery Workmanship 8%, Keyboard 10%, Mouse 10%, Connectivity 4%, Weight 16%, Battery 12%, Display 8%, Games Performance 2%, Application Performance 4%, Temperature 8%, Noise 8%, Impression 10% Acer Aspire 5600 battery

The values of the display are overall good.Sony VGP-BPS9/S battery The installed SEC544B panel scores thanks to its great brightness (average of 266.6 cd/m²) which brings games and films to life. Thanks to the decent black value (0.56 cd/m²), black areas are not greyish as they often are in other notebooks.Sony VGP-BPS9 battery The contrast is also good: 504:1. The picture seemed subjectively rich and strong.Sony VGP-BPS9A/B battery However, the color space test showed a big flaw. The display does not encompass the AdobeRGB or the sRGB color space. Normal users will be able to ignore this deficit but professional picture and video editors will have to look for an alternative laptop.Sony VGP-BPS9A/S battery Alienware M14x vs.Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery AdobeRGB (transparent)Despite the high brightness offered by the display, outdoors use is not recommended. The reflecting display surface can cause very strong reflections when exposed to direct sunlight and its use in those conditions will stress the eyes significantly.Sony VGP-BPS13 battery Indoors such issues will not rise, although the user will have to pick a good sport so as to avoid annoying reflections as far as possible.Sony VGP-BPS13A/Q battery The viewing angle stability is above average. Horizontally the picture does not change much,Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery even when the display is moved a lot. Vertically, the displayed picture gets distorted near the bottom of the screen when the display is moved. Overall, the display offers a good picture quality, much better than that found in a typical run-of-the-mill notebook. The user can enjoy his collection of media on this display without any problems.Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q battery The strength of the installed CPU shows how dedicated Alienware is to great program performance.Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery Dual-cores are not available for the model; the manufacturer forces buyers to choose an efficient quad-core CPU from Intel's latest line-up: the Sandy-Bridge generation. Our test model came with the Intel Core i7-2630QM which is a cheap model of the latest generation. Sony VGP-BPS13/Q battery While the usual clock speed of 2.0 GHz is rather poor,Sony VGP-BPS8 battery the processor can overclock up to 2.9 GHz (Turbo-Boost technology). The CPU also has the same amount of L3 cache memory (6 MB) as the more expensive Core i7-2720QM (Core i7-2820QM: 8 MB). Another important feature is the Hyperthreading technology. Thanks to the simulation of four virtual cores, the CPU can process up to 8 threads simultaneously. Sony VGP-BPS10 battery Intel deserves praise for its integrated graphics chip. Sony VGP-BPS2 battery The weak HD Graphics 3000 allows notebook manufacturers to use power-saving GPU switching. The processor itself consumes quite a bit of power: up to 45 watts. The Sandy Bridge processors are all produced in the modern 32 nm form.Sony VGP-BPS2A battery Nvidia has delivered a very interesting graphic card for the buyer. Sony VGP-BPS2B battery The DirectX 11 ready GeForce GT 555M (Fermi architecture) is one of the few graphic cards of the upper middle-class which delivers appropriate performance. This statement is supported by the 144 Unified Shaders of the GT 555M. This shader count lies right between the GeForce GT 540M (96 Shader) and the GeForce GTX 460M (192 Shader). Sony VGP-BPS22 battery The clock speeds have not been changed.Sony VGP-BPS22A battery The installed GT 555M operates at 590 MHz (core), 900 MHz (memory) and 1180 MHz (Shader). The DDR3 VRAM of 3072 MB is big enough, but the memory interface can be a problem. A 192 bit memory interface can not keep up fast enough with modern games,Sony VGP-BPS13AS battery and without the latest GDDR5 VRAM, the graphic card's small memory interface might end up limiting the performance. Sony VGP-BPS13S battery To extend the battery life of the M14x, Alienware has installed the automatic graphic switching Optimus technology.Sony VGP-BPS13/S battery Nvidias Optimus technology allows the computer to switch between an integrated graphic chip and a dedicated graphic card. The goal of this technology is to achieve the optimal balance between performance and power usage. Sony VGP-BPS13B/S battery The Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip is used if the user is running low or not at all graphic intensive programs (Office, Internet, videos...etc.). Sony VGP-BPS10/B battery As soon as a graphic intensive 3D program is started the notebook switches to the dedicated graphic card, the GeForce GT 555M. The switch is fast and there are no visible changes. Manual control is usually not necessary as Optimus chooses the graphic card correctly most of the time. Even if Optimus picks the wrong graphic chip, Sony VGP-BPS10A/B battery the user can configure the technology to fit his/her needs using the extensive Nvidia system settings.Sony VGP-BPS10/S battery 6.9Windows 7 ExperienceSony VGP-BPS21A/B battery IndexProcessorCalculations per second7.4Memory (RAM)Memory operations per second7.7GraphicsDesktop performance for Windows Aero6.9Gaming graphics3D business and gaming graphics6.9Primary hard diskDisk data transfer rate7.6Performance GPU Sony VGP-BPS21 battery The 3D performance of the GeForce GT 555M was tested by us using AMD's competitor model,Sony VGP-BPS21A battery the Radeon HD 6770M (HP dv7-6030ew). In 3DMark Vantage, Nvidias GPU took second place. The Radeon HD 6770M was in the lead by 6% with a score of 5286 to 4997 points. The GPU score in the latest 3DMark 11, showed an increase in the lead of the AMD GPU with a score of 1346 to 1159 points (+16%).Sony VGP-BPS21/B battery The user can install a 256 GB SSD instead of a fast HDD (7200 rpm - 500 or 750 GB). dell vostro 1710 battery Samsung's SSD PM810 is much faster than a traditional HDD. A good HDD can only reach read and write speeds of 80 MB/sec or more, whereas the Solid State Drive can deliver 250 MB/sec (CrystalDiskMark). dell vostro 1720 battery The access time of 0.2 ms of the SSD,Dell Vostro 1310 battery is well out of reach for normal HDDs which have access times around 20 ms (HDTune). In everyday use, the installed SSD shows its potential: boot and loading times are relatively very short, files are transferred quickly, and the operating system has lighting fast reaction times.Dell Vostro 1510 battery The program performance delivered by the M14x is first class.Dell Inspiron 1545 battery A cheap and efficient quad-core CPU from Intel's Sandy-Bridge generation accomplishes nearly all tasks with ease. The SSD storage device accelerates the system incredibly, and with a score of 14302 points in the PCMark Vantage benchmark, the solid state drive delivers the absolute best performance. Nvidias GeForce GT 555M is also a potent graphic card, which fits well with the other high-end hardware components. Dell inspiron 1721 battery The M14x had to prove itself in four popular games to pass our gaming perfromance test. In this test, dell vostro 1700 battery the GeForce GT 555M had to compete, for the sake of comparison, against one of its most fierce rivals, the Radeon HD 6750M. As we could not test all the games properly on just one laptop, we used two models: a MacBook Pro 15 and a MacBook Pro 17 (both are equipped with Radeon HD 6750M). Both notebooks also have the same processor, the Core i7-2720QM, and so we were able to keep the difference in CPU influence at a minimum.dell latitude e5500 battery The visually extravagant Ego shooter game pushed the M14x to its limits at maximum settings.dell xps m1730 batteryA combination of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a setting of "Extreme", lowered the frame rate down to an average of 12.9 fps. We had to lower the resolution to 1366 x 768 and set the graphics to "Very High" so as to run the game fluidly. We recorded a good 40.8 fps, for the intro movie (U-Boat) of the single-player campaign. AMD's Radeon HD 6750M lost this round with a frames rate of 38.0 fps (7% less).dell latitude e5400 battery Anyone who wants to enjoy the good visuals of this Real-time Strategy game, dell inspiron e1505 battery needs to have a middle-class graphics card. The resource-consuming intro sequence ("For the Swarm") was played at 24 fps (1920 x 1080 resolution) by the GeForce GT 555M. The Radeon HD 6750M delivered nearly the same performance (23.9 fps). dell latitude e6500 battery With a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and high details, th game ran smoothly at a great 46.2 fps.Dell inspiron 1300 battery This fun Battlefield: Bad Company sequel needs a high-end graphics card to run smoothly at maximum settings.Dell vostro 1400 battery We ran the game with high details, 4x anti-aliasing, 8x anisotropic filtering, and a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The end result was a mere 22 fps (Intro movie of the single player campaign - boat sequence). The M14x can run the game somewhat fluidly with high details, a resolution of 1366 x 768 and 4x anisotropic filtering. The GeForce GT 555M beats the Radeon HD 6750M a third time (41 to 39 fps).Dell inspiron 1521 battery From a gamers point of view, the GeForce GT 555M is a good graphic card. dell studio 1535 battery With the native HD+ resolution (1600 x 900), the delivered performance will suffice for high details. Features like anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering can also be used. The user will only ever have to drop the resolution and graphic quality when running extremely demanding games like Metro 2033 or Crysis 2. Dell latitude e6400 battery Full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080) do not suit the GeForce GT 555M. Dell latitude d620 battery At the very least a GeForce GTX 460M is necessary for laptops to display material fluidly at that resolution. The GeForce GT 555M does not need to hide from its AMD competition. The Radeon HD 6750M falls overall behind the GT 555M in terms of performance, and so the dedicated graphic card of the M14x lies at the same level as the Radeon HD 6770M or HD 6850M.Dell inspiron 1526 battery The high noise emissions under heavy load are probably the biggest weakness of the M14x.Dell inspiron 6400 battery When running demanding 3D applications (like games), the cooler fan runs extremely loud and will distract users. In fact, the noise emissions are so high that they overlie the game sounds. As such, Dell inspiron 1501 battery good headphones which block out surrounding noises, or external speakers with a high volume setting are necessary to properly enjoy the game. Most users will be borderline fine with the emissions, however, sensitive users should avoid the M14x. Dell vostro 1000 battery On the other hand, when surfing on the Internet or watching a film (less demanding),Dell vostro 1520 battery the noise emissions are nonexistent or low. The cooler fan is known to turn off for long periods of time, and then switch on shortly and work at an audible level. So, all-in-all, Alienware has quite a lot to deal with. Dell inspiron 1720 batteryThe manufacturer absolutely has to make sure that the notebook reacts within certain limits under load. Even turning up the cooler fan now and then in normal use would be fine. As such, the noise emissions are a flaw that can not be ignored.Dell vostro 1500 battery The temperature emissions of the case can be described as moderate.Dell latitude d820 battery When idle, the notebook surface remains comfortably cool at around 28°C (quite low for a gaming notebook). Even when the laptop is under heavy load, the hand-rest regions barely warm up to a maximum of 29°C, Dell latitude d830 battery which means that users can comfortably play games for long periods of time. The rest of the case heats up considerably, especially near the back, to 39°C (top) and 45°C (bottom). dell studio 17 battery The temperatures the hardware components reach are no laughing matter. Dell studio 15 battery For example, the processor can be pushed to its very limit. We ran the stability test of the Furmark and Prime benchmarks for several hours, and during this time we noticed that the Core i7-2630QM CPU throttled down to 1300 MHz sporadically.dell studio 1535 battery However, the reader should note that this extreme scenario (full load for several hours) will probably not occur in everyday use. So the "throttling" problem should not be an issue for the buyer.Toshiba PA3534U-1BRSv
Review HP EliteBook 8560p Notebook
Sebastian Jentsch (translated by Liala Stieglitz), 06/12/2011 Lifebook NH751 (NH751MRGD2DE):Sony VGP-BPS9A/B battery Fujitsu – a maker of only dull, unsexy laptops? The manufacturer, Fujitsu, has the image of a boring IT supplier in this country. The Japanese make money with servers, maintenance orders and a few mousy gray office laptops. The Fujitsu image likely looks something like this in the consumer field.Sony VGP-BPS9A/S battery Many customers won't even be familiar with the brand as a long-standing notebook maker or even take it seriously.Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery This isn't as much due to the consumers' single-mindedness as it is to the aftermath of Siemens' and Fujitsu's disengagement in the summer of 2009. Since that,Sony VGP-BPS13 battery laptops of the autonomous brand Fujitsu disappeared from many shelves and online shops. There was a lack of competitive models, shrewd marketing decision makers and possibly clever sales representatives.Sony VGP-BPS13A/Q battery Notebooks of this brand however were never really gone.Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery They led their existence in the category "bread and butter". Remote from the glitz and glamour of gamers, high-end multimedians and ultra-light subnotebooks, the devices hardly ever managed to find their way into the spotlights of test labs.Sony VGP-BPS13B/B battery We had contact with the specimen "Fujitsu" more frequently. The workstation Celsius H700 had a lot of power beneath its dull plastic hood. Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q battery The Lifebook A530 was out looking for customers with the same quality looks at a low-end price and convinced with good input devices. The manufacturer proved that multimedia can be completely enveloped in high-gloss at the end of 2010 with the AH530.Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery And then there was also the portable and convertible range with the Lifebook S760 and T580 Convertible.Sony VGP-BPS13/Q battery Low-end office, all-round multimedia, business and workstations. Sony VGP-BPS8 battery It lacks gaming suitable multimedia despite strong processor performance and large memory capacity. Does Fujitsu have the know-how to build a multimedia machine that can even satisfy demanding techies? Find out everything about the Lifebook NH751 in this detailed review.Sony VGP-BPS8A battery Edge to edge (frameless)The Lifebook NH751's build neither gives much reason for complaint nor for a chorus of praise. Sony VGP-BPS10 battery Polished surfaces are only found where fingerprints rarely strike during use on a desk. Only the lid is glossy and thus most sensitive for scratches. However, unsightly smears can also develop on the edge to edge screen.Sony VGP-BPS2 battery A plastic plate is in front of the image rendering screen. The first reason for the edge to edge design is the looks. But it also enhances lids stiffness and dust can't gather in the corners.Sony VGP-BPS2A battery The matt surfaces inside make a viable and quality impression.Sony VGP-BPS2B batteryThe non-slip surfaces unfortunately collect fingerprints visibly. The 17.3 incher is quite a heavy chunk with a live weight of 3670 grams plus 376 grams for the adapter. That would be justified if the base unit would supply an accordingly high torsional stiffness.Sony VGP-BPS2C battery We can twist it to an extent with both hands. The construction isn't completely stiff. Nevertheless, we wouldn't say that it's instable, but that it has a feasible stiffness. Sony VGP-BPS22 battery The wrist-rest, touchpad and key field present themselves as very firm. The hands rest on the never too hot surfaces without slipping around. The hinges (open to 185 degrees) have a very firm hold on the lid, but they allow evident teetering.Sony VGP-BPS22A battery On the one hand, Fujitsu relies on state of the art components, but on the other, it's not consistent.Sony VGP-BPS13AS battery So, the peripheral port, USB 3.0, is not installed, but can however be retrofitted via ExpressCard54 (expansion cards). The older eSATA is available for connecting fast, external hard disks, though.Sony VGP-BPS13S battery If you imagine the Lifebook NH751 completely loaded with cables, you'll see the disadvantages of the positioning.Sony VGP-BPS13/S battery A cable tree develops on the left (eSATA, HDMI, ExpressCard, USB) and the right (2 USBs) prevents placing a mouse there. In addition, the cluttered desk has to be considered.Sony VGP-BPS13B/S battery Rear-placed interfaces would have been more practical (power cable only), especially since Fujitsu advertises the Lifebook HN751 as a desktop replacement. The lids mounting wouldn't have even deterred rear-side ports, but the battery is removed from that side.Sony VGP-BPS10/B battery Rare but praiseworthy: Recovery DVDs for Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) are included.Sony VGP-BPS10A battery Fujitsu holds back on installing tools and programs. That what can be found is very sensible: DeskUpdate (downloads updates), Nero9 Essentials (burn), PlugFreeNetwork (networking profiles) and a PowerSaving Utility (settings ECO button).Sony VGP-BPS10A/B battery The manufacturer's warranty is only for a period of 12 months (bring in). Sony VGP-BPS10/S battery This is valid for purchases made in Germany but can be 24 months in other retailing countries (collect & return service). The manufacturer bids a 3 year collect & return service for a price of 40 euros.Sony VGP-BPS21A/B battery We can type energetically on the keys without an accommodation period.Sony VGP-BPS21 battery The key drop is medium short and the stroke is firm (yet not hard). The surface is absolutely pressure resistant and we don't notice yielding anywhere. The keyboard doesn't even coil above the optical drive.Sony VGP-BPS21A battery The key's pressure point is clear. The minimized arrow keys are a flaw of the otherwise generous layout. Nevertheless, Sony VGP-BPS21/S battery they are well palpable because a small gap separates them from the shift key. The keyboard's biggest weakness is the keys' even surface. The fingers consequently slide around a bit insecurely over the keys. Sony VGP-BPS21/B battery The mouse pad has a fairly small area and is touch sensitive up to its edges. dell vostro 1710 battery It has two unmarked scroll bars (vertical & horizontal). Fast clicking is possible due to the mouse keys' medium key drop and their smoothness. The noise that this creates is clearly audible, though.dell vostro 1720 battery The surface is matt and bids a pleasant scroll resistance. Multi-touch with two fingers (zoom, scroll) is also supported.Dell Vostro 1310 battery Our 17 inch Lifebook NH751 is equipped with a 16:9 screen. Dell Vostro 1510 battery We are dealing with a Full HD 1920x1080 (1080p), or WUXGA, as many gamers and display screen equipment workers would like to see. The display is read out as a CMO N173HGE-L11 (TN + film). Incidentally,Dell Inspiron 1545 battery the screen is identical to that of the Dell XPS 17 L702x (non 3D) and has a response time of 8 ms, according to the spec sheet.dell xps m1530 battery The display hasn't been AR coated, which is due to the lid's edge to edge design.Dell inspiron 1721 battery A plastic plate covers the screen and the entire bezel. This has its advantage: The sensitive screen is protected against small objects that have been forgotten on the keys. Additionally, dirt isn't collected in the corners.dell vostro 1700 battery The FHD screen can supply a very good contrast of 975:1. dell latitude e4300 battery This provides crisp, brilliant colors in practical use. Then again, the color spectrum, for which we created the ICC profile, isn't quite as good. It slightly fails sRGB. Nevertheless, the screen can compete with the competition in terms of colors. dell latitude e5500 battery We place the Asus N73JQ (DTR, FHD), the Dell Latitude E6520 (business, FHD) and the Samsung 900X (premium subnotebook, HD) beside it for comparison. The CMO screen only slightly falls short of the Latitude's color spectrum. dell xps m1730 battery The display distributes the brightness evenly over the CMO screen (87%).dell studio 1737 battery That means that the LED backlight's deviations are low (homogeneity). The minimum and maximum only have a difference of 32 cd/m2. Overall, the average brightness of 225 cd/m2 is good and will suit virtually all indoor application scenarios.dell latitude e5400 battery It's not like we'd believe that someone would take the bulky 3.67 kilograms along to the beach. It doesn't come in question for the summer with its moderate brightness and intensely reflective display. dell inspiron e1505 battery The edge to edge design also prevents a reflection-free display screen equipment workplace.dell latitude e6500 battery Sun from the sideSuch wide viewing angles as in the NH751 are a delight for the eyes.Dell inspiron 1300 battery The contrast stays constant horizontally and inverting (ghosting) doesn't turn up at all. Thus, the viewing angle is about 85 degrees horizontally. The display can keep up with a desktop TFT. Regrettably,Dell vostro 1400 battery it doesn't look quite as good vertically (from below) anymore. We see the notorious ghosting at about 25 degrees. However, this is not the case for looking down on it. See our viewing angle video for this.Dell inspiron 1420 battery The quad core, Core i7-2630QM with 4x 2.0 GHz (standard clock),Dell inspiron 1521 battery had already provided a strong application performance in the Deviltech Fragbook DTX (Clevo P170HM, GTX 470M) and the Asus G73SW (GTX 460M, i7-2630QM) at the beginning of the year. Like in the Clarksfield quad cores, dell studio 1535 battery they can be overclocked up to 2.9 GHz (one core) when required via Turbo Boost. Thus, applications can calculate with up to eight threads.Dell inspiron 1525 battery Intel's "Turbo 2.0" even adds a bit of potential because the CPU detects a kind of headroom above the fixed maximum clock rates (Dynamic Range @ Turbo Frequency Limits).Dell latitude e6400 battery The Core i7-2630QM can overclock very high for a short period after an idle phase provided the cooling is sufficient. Dell latitude d620 battery Applications with a short maximum load time can benefit from this. Subsequently, the "normal" turbo frequency limits of 2.2 GHz (load of 4/8 cores/threads) and 2.9 GHz (1 core) is dynamically available (see temperature stress test).Dell latitude d630 battery Detailed information: Review Intel Sandy Bridge Quad Core Processors.Dell inspiron 1526 battery The integrated HD Graphics 3000 ensures a (comparatively) economic operation when no battery runtime and no GPU power is needed.Dell inspiron 6400 battery The NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M (1024 MB) is automatically disabled by Nvidia Optimus.Dell inspiron 1501 battery The determined time of the CPU benchmark WPrime (324s) is clearly lower than the comparable 720QM (483s) and 740QM (427s) models. Dell vostro 1000 battery Here, the shorter the better. Thus, the 2630QM calculates faster by 25 percent than the 740QM predecessor.Dell vostro 1520 battery The Cinebench R11.5 CPU test (multi, 64bit) strikes hard with a score of 4.86 points.Dell inspiron 1720 battery That is clearly more than a 740QM (3.4; MSI GX660R) achieved. The "identical" i7-2630QM in the Aspire 7750G however was able to achieve a slightly better score of 5.0 points. Dell vostro 1500 battery This could be the result of better Dynamic Frequency (Turbo 2.0) utilization. If you want even more power, you will have to afford the higher clocked sister model, 2820QM (2.3 GHz, 5.7 points; e.g. mySN XMG P501).Dell latitude d820 battery 5.8Windows 7 Experience IndexProcessorCalculations per second7.4Memory (RAM)Memory operations per second7.4GraphicsDesktop performance for Windows Aero5.8Gaming graphics3D business and gaming graphics6.6Primary hard diskDisk data transfer rate5.9 CB10 Rendering Single 32Bit 3653 pointsDell latitude d830 battery PCMark Vantage assessed strong 7181 points.dell studio 17 battery A remarkable figure that even excels a workstation with an i7-820QM (1.7 – 3.0 GHz) from 2010 (HP Elitebook 8740w 820QM/FX2800M). Review Gigabyte P2532N Notebook
Courage to be unique.Sony VGP-BPS9/S battery Gigabyte tries to build a 15.6 inch multimedia notebook that can serve with Nvidia's Optimus technology besides a high definition screen and a quad core processor. Read here if the P2532N is worth its money.Sony VGP-BPS9 battery After the Convertible T1125N,Sony VGP-BPS9A/B battery the P2532N is only the second device from Gigabyte that we examine thoroughly. Gigabyte plays a rather inferior role in the notebook sector. There are only few devices from this manufacturer available in Internet shops. To find out if Gigabyte deserves more attention,Sony VGP-BPS9A/S battery we grabbed hold of the 15.6 inch P2532N. The expensive multimedia notebook fuses an elegant case with powerful components from the mid and premium range.Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery Gigybyte's website currently lists two different models.Sony VGP-BPS13 battery We'll start with the P2532N, which we have reviewed, and is sold for about 1200 euros. The buyer not only gets a fast quad core processor from Intel (Core i7-2630QM) and a DirectX 11 capable graphics card from NvidiaSony VGP-BPS13A/Q battery (GeForce GT 550M) for this price. A 750 GB HDD (7200 rpm) and eight GB of DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz) are also included. Moreover, there also is a standard DVD burner and glossy Full HD display.Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery The second model, called P2532V,Sony VGP-BPS13B/B battery is currently not available at any German dealer according to "geizhals.de". The components are identical with the first model for the most part. The difference is found in the display. Instead of a "standard" 60 Hz screen,Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q battery Gigabyte uses a 3D capable 120 Hz display in the P2532V. Modified pictures, movies and games can also be enjoyed in the third dimension with the included shutter glasses if you like. The screen only has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels and not 1920x1080 pixels since 3D mode consumes a lot of power.Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery Potential buyers have to therefore choose between a high resolution and 3D support.Sony VGP-BPS13/Q battery This tester would personally sooner take the standard version. For one thing, Nvidia's 3D Vision technology couldn't completely convince us in the test. For another, the 3D version doesn't have an automatic graphics switching (Nvidia Optimus).Sony VGP-BPS8 battery High-end caseThe elegant case is certainly the P2532N's biggest unique feature.Sony VGP-BPS8A battery Gigabyte blends divine black plastic (lid / bottom) and brushed aluminum (keyboard area). A high-gloss, silver chrome bar that frames almost the entire notebook provides variety.Sony VGP-BPS10 battery Overall, the materials make a very high-end impression. Since most surfaces are matt, smudging is kept within limits. Fingerprints and the like hardly appear.Sony VGP-BPS2 battery Generally, the case radiates individuality. Gigabyte places a lot of value on a unique design. Sony VGP-BPS2A battery You not least notice this due to the interestingly shaped vents, which are inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo - as can be seen in the rear view on the homepage. Sony VGP-BPS2B battery In contrast to the Asus VX7, which uses a similar line thematically, we find the P2532N a lot less fanciful. If you like it a bit more colorful: the 15 incher is supposed to also be available in red, Sony VGP-BPS2C battery yellow and orange. The workmanship is in no way inferior to the design. The case has been cleanly manufactured with exception of the moderately fixed base plate.Sony VGP-BPS22 battery Meanwhile, there is more to complain about in view of stability.Sony VGP-BPS22A battery If you dare, you can depress the area above the optical drive extremely. The lid can also be twisted evidently with both hands. The hinges don't deliver a very good show in the test. For one thing, the base unit lifts excessively while opening. Sony VGP-BPS13AS battery For another, surface vibrations make the screen wobble. The weight and size are within the usual range for a 15 inch laptop. 2.66 kilograms don't force the user to stay put.Sony VGP-BPS13S battery USB 3.0 performanceThe connectivity is acceptable for a multimedia laptop.Sony VGP-BPS13/S battery Two audio ports, a card reader, a Kensington lock, a Gigabit LAN port and a VGA, respectively HDMI out are standard. In return, two USB 3.0 ports and an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo aren't found on every notebook.Sony VGP-BPS13B/S battery We deem the interface distribution as quite successful.Sony VGP-BPS10/B battery Since most ports are located fairly far back, there is enough room to maneuver when using a mouse. However, the manufacturer should reconsider the build of the sides. The ports are located so far on the inside that you have to wrench your head or body extremely to see the single interfaces.Sony VGP-BPS10A battery Unlike many other manufacturer,Sony VGP-BPS10A/B battery Gigabyte doesn't stuff the system full with superfluous bloatware. Besides various drivers, there is a security and office bundle from Microsoft (Security Essentials & Office 2010 Starter) installed. A nice idea: You can switch between the 32 and 64 bit version of Windows 7 via Smart Switch (requires restart), Sony VGP-BPS10/S battery which can be especially useful for older hardware and software.Sony VGP-BPS21A/B battery The input devices make a good impression with exception of minor details.Sony VGP-BPS21 battery Gigabyte relies on the very popular chiclet design for its keyboard. The separate keys are aptly sized with 15x15 millimeters. You quickly accommodate due to the well implemented layout. Merely the arrow keys and the keys of the separate number pad have turned out a bit narrow for spatial reasons.Sony VGP-BPS21A battery We would describe the typing feel as good, whereby the stroke could be a bit more defined.Sony VGP-BPS21/S battery The relatively loud and clattery typing noise is its biggest flaw. The keyboard makes a rather cheap impression in terms of acoustics. You look for an illumination option in vain, as among the majority of competitors.Sony VGP-BPS21/B battery Beyond that, the Smart key located right beside the power button is worth mentioning. A small tool that grants easy access to various convenience functions is found behind this mysterious Smart key. dell vostro 1710 battery The 92x42 millimeter sized touchpad can especially impress with its multi-finger support.dell vostro 1720 battery Numerous, configurable gestures like scroll and zoom facilitate your workday enormously. Naturally, conventional scroll bars on the touchpad's edge shouldn't be omitted, either. In terms of accuracy and reliability, the touchpad places itself in the midfield. Dell Vostro 1310 battery The majority of inputs were implemented flawlessly.Dell Vostro 1510 battery Meanwhile, we deem the surface with tiny knobs as not as well implemented.Dell Inspiron 1545 battery On the one hand, the gliding traits are suboptimal, and on the other, the roughened texture proves to be unpleasant in the long run. In return, gamers will be delighted about the centered position. Disabling in games isn't absolutely necessary. dell xps m1530 battery The manufacturer has united both mouse keys in a continuous bar.Dell inspiron 1721 battery Gigabyte has opted for a 15.6 inch glare screen that is made in a 16:9 format and which has an energy saving LED backlight. dell vostro 1700 battery We don't quite understand the resolution (Full HD). 1920x1080 pixels ensure a focused image and a large desktop, dell latitude e4300 battery but it overburdens the graphics card in modern games at the same time. We would have sooner selected 1600x900 pixels because the P2532N doesn't have a BluRay player.dell latitude e5500 battery Gigabyte deserves a lot of praise for the display's quality. dell xps m1730 battery The installed LG Philips LP156WF1-TLC1 screen scores in almost every way. Starting with the brightness, which is more than adequate with an average of 239.2 cd/m2. The display radiates agreeably bright indoors. Games and movies don't deteriorate into a dull event.dell studio 1737 battery The black value of 0.46 cd/m2 is also impressive.dell latitude e5400 battery Dark areas have a fairly saturated hue. A good contrast joins in. 565:1 clearly excels the majority of competition products. In comparison: A "normal" run of the mill screen reaches a black value of about 1.0 cd/m2 and a contrast of roughly 200:1.dell inspiron e1505 battery The colors look vivid and natural, and consuming media is a real pleasure. Gigabyte P2532N vs. AdobeRGB (grid)We weren't as happy about the display's glare-type.dell latitude e6500 battery Unsightly reflections turn up especially outdoors due to the glossy surface. The laptop feels noticeably more comfortable inside its own four walls. However, reflections can still turn up depending on the lighting situation and location. A matt display surface would be easier on the eyes.Dell inspiron 1300 battery The viewing angles can appease us again.Dell vostro 1400 battery The image hardly changes even in larger deviations horizontally. Although the viewing angles are a bit inferior vertically, the user doesn't feel obliged to permanently readjusting the angle. Watching a movie with several persons? No problem.Dell inspiron 1420 battery To equip the user adequately for the future,Dell inspiron 1521 battery Gigabyte gives the P2532N one of the latest quad core processor. The Core i7-2630QM comes from Intel's efficient Sandy Bridge generation and is manufactured in a 32nm structure width. 995 million transistors and a six MB sized L3 cache are indications for high performance capacities.dell studio 1535 battery The base clock of 2.00 GHz isn't exactly vast, but the processor can be overclocked to a maximum of 2.90 GHz thanks to the Turbo Boost function.Dell inspiron 1525 battery Hyper Threading is also an important feature. Eight threads can be processed at the same time by simulating four virtual cores. While a few applications can clearly benefit from Hyper Threading, games hardly respond to this technology. An incorporated graphics chip, called HD Graphics 3000, is one of the Core i7-2630QM's features. The power consumption is above average. Intel states a TDP of 45 watts (equivalent to the Core i7-2720QM & 2820QM). A DirectX 11 capable midrange model serves as the graphics card. The GeForce GT 550M is based on Nvidia's Fermi architecture. The GF108 chip to be more precise. Unlike the name indicates, the GeForce GT 550M is sooner related with the GT 540M than the GT 555M. The reason: Both former mentioned GPUs only have 96 shader units instead of 144 "CUDA cores". The clock rates are 10% higher than the weaker GeForce GT 540M, though. Instead of 672/1344 MHz, the core and shader run on 740, respectively 1480 MHz. The DDR3 video memory (900 MHz) is generously sized with 2048 MBs, but the narrow memory bus of merely 128 bits is limiting in practical use. GDDR5 memories or at least a 192 bit wide interface would have resulted in a better performance. On the other hand, Nvidia doesn't make any mistake in the features. Thus, the graphics card is capable of decoding HD videos (PureVideo HD), transmitting HD audio via HDMI and calculating physics effects (PhysX), among other things. The performance is at most sufficient for pictures and video in stereoscopic 3D mode (the P2532N exists in an alternative with shutter glasses). The GeForce GT 550M is usually too slow for a three dimensional reproduction of games. One of the P2532N's biggest highlights is the automatic graphics switching. Depending on the requirement, Nvidia's Optimus technology enables either the incorporated or the dedicated graphics card. This prevents unnecessary power consumption during undemanding tasks, which of course has a positive impact on battery life. Optimus is fairly refined in the meantime. The user only has to interfere manually at the odd time. Programs can be started with the preferred graphics card conveniently via right click when the option "Add 'Run with Graphic Processor' to Context Menu" is enabled in Nvidia's control panel. Optimus provides itself autonomously with updates. The user therefore doesn't have to install the newest drivers every few weeks for perfect operation. By the way, the global setting can be changed if only the incorporated or the dedicated graphics card is principally to be enabled. 5.9Windows 7 Experience IndexProcessorCalculations per second7.4Memory (RAM)Memory operations per second7.6GraphicsDesktop performance for Windows Aero5.9Gaming graphics3D business and gaming graphics6.7Primary hard diskDisk data transfer rate5.9GPU Performance The GPU performance is, as expected, in the midfield. The GeForce GT 550M can call a GPU score of 966 points its own in the latest 3DMark11 (1280x720, performance preset) - a good result. AMD's vying model, the Radeon HD 6750M (Apple MacBook Pro 15) overtakes the Nvidia GPU by 20% with 1159 points. We also checked the difference to its smaller brother, GeForce GT 540M (Schenker XMG A701), with assistance from the Unigine Heaven 2.1 benchmark (1280x1024, tessellation normal). 14.2 to 13.3 fps is still equivalent to a difference of 7%. The Unigine Heaven benchmark's frame rate already indicates: The GeForce GT 550M is conceivably unsuitable for demanding gamers.
A cutting edge solid state drive would however have been the better choice. SSD hard disks speed up Windows' routine extremely. The system reacts faster, booting, loading and transfer rates are shorter. Incidentally, the hard disk can be accessed easily. Thus, nothing's in the way of a possible upgrade. If you believe the seasoned PCMark Vantage, the performance of the total system comes close to the one or other high-end notebook. 9116 points are a throughout good result. In comparison: The Asus VX7-SZ062V (Core i7-2630QM & GeForce GTX 460M), considerably faster in games, had to be satisfied with 8675 points in the test. An SSD hard disk is needed to break the 10000 point mark in most cases. All in all, the performance can't really justify the notebook's price. It should have at least been a GeForce GT 555M for 1200 euros. We checked the P2532N's gaming performance with several games from 2009-2011. We focused on two questions here. First: To what extent can the GeForce GT 550M excel its little brother, GeForce GT 540M (Schenker XMG A501)? And second: Does the graphics card have a real chance against the main competitor from AMD, the Radeon HD 6750M (Apple MacBook Pro 15)?Dell latitude e6400 battery

Hands-On: Samsung Series 9 (11.6) & Series 3 (13.3) in Review
Samsung's Smallest.toshiba pa3535u-1brs battery
Samsung's 11.6-incher of the same series 9 steps into its 13.3-inch big
brother's shoes in terms of look and technology. We tested: high
contrast and great viewing angles. Furthermore, this article includes
display measurements of the 13.3-inch business 300V3A.hp pavilion dv2000 battery Samsung shrinks its successful 900X3A of 13.3-inch size to the 900X1B of 11.6-inch size, hp pavilion dv6000 battery which looks the same. After Samsung changed their nomenclature, their Series 9 constitutes their top-premium laptops. The first aspirant was the 900X3A in 13.3-inch size (3/2011), whose low system noise, first-class display, and super-slim design inspired us.hp pavilion dv9000 battery No wonder that many eyes excitedly watch the 11.6-inch model called 900X1B.hp compaq 6710b battery
Does the Core i3 mite perform also that well or is it just a moderate
netbook blend? We had the chance to take a closer look at a
preproduction model at the IFA Preview in Hamburg. Production models
might differ in terms of workmanship and display.compaq presario cq60 battery The slim case (manufacturer's information: 1.06 kg) gives the impression of being metallic cool and valuable (surfaces: brushed and lacquered aluminium).IBM thinkpad r60e battery The base unit can be slightly twisted. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy how "robust" 16.5mm (thickest spot) can be. The thin lid is very stiff too. Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery Its surface can only be dented a little bit at some spots in its center. Having said this, also the palm rests rest firmly on its base. Only, the keys can be dented. As this is a preproduction model this small problem could be solved in the production model.Lenovo thinkpad t60 battery The Synaptics ClickPad V8.0 is the same also used in the 13.3-inch 900X3A. Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery
The same is true for the keyboard and its size. Samsung uses the same
input device, but, the space left and right of it has to be made
smaller.IBM thinkpad X60S battery Samsung optimized the 11.6-inch (29 cm, 1366×768 HD) display for outdoor use.Lenovo thinkpad t500 battery It is AR-coated and we could measure a high brightness of 230 up to 290 cd/m² on site. This is lower than the 413 cd/m² (average) of the 13.3-inch 900X3A, but still a good brightness. Samsung calls it SuperBright (320 nit). Lenovo thinkpad t61 battery The black value is on par with the comparison model,Lenovo thinkpad r61 batterywhich delivered a contrast of 630:1 (black value: 0.64 cd/m²). We measure a black value of 0.55 cd/m² for the smaller 900X1B. This gives a great contrast of 527:1. Please note again: preproduction model! Alike in the 13.3-incher of the Series 9,Lenovo thinkpad t400 battery it features very good viewing angles. Regardless how much we move our eyes to the left or right (about 80 degrees from the middle, horizontally), there are no color distortions (ghost images).Lenovo thinkpad t410 battery Run-of-the-mill office displays usually look washed-out at a deviation of 40-45 degrees. In vertical direction, the eyes can only deviate up to 15 degrees. The viewing angles conform to those of the 900X3A.Lenovo x300 battery It won't take months until a comprehensive review. Up to now, the Series 9 900X1B left a good impression,Lenovo x200 battery
we especially liked its bright and contrast-rich display. You can
hardly feel its 1.06 kilogram with non-removable battery when carrying
the laptop. Without doubt,Lenovo 3000 v100 battery
the fast 60 GB SSD and the Core i3 Low Voltage processor (17 watt) will
ensure a good performance, much better than all the Dual Core Netbooks.
However, the advised price of 1.099 Euro (MSRP) for the Series 9 900X1B
is rather steep. The 11.6-inch should be available from 07-22.Lenovo 3000 v200 battery After we could already take same pictures of the business-range 300V3ALenovo 3000 c200 battery (see German news: IFA Preview 2011 | Samsung Series 3 300V3A Notebook with bright, matt display), we can now hand in measurements of the display. Lenovo ideapad s10 battery The black value of the Serie 3 300V3A is 1.43 cd/m². As a result,Fujitsu lifebook t4215 battery the contrast is a mere 157:1. So, the colors seem pale. Again please note: preproduction model! Our colleagues at the IFA Preview in Munich were somewhat tricked by the brightness. We measure only 200 to 250 cd/m² (edge/center). This is an ordinary brightness achieved by many (usable) displays.Fujitsu lifebook t4210 battery The viewing angles are unfortunately only ordinary too: Fujitsu lifebook t4220 battery In horizontal direction ghost images appear from 45 degrees deviation from the frontal position. In vertical direction, they are even worse. The possible deviation is only 10 degrees here.Fujitsu lifebook t5010 battery Minimum display brightness and maximum energy-saving options allowed the notebook to run for two hours and 52 minutes (Readers Test by Battery Eater). Adjusting the brightness to maximum and moderate energy saving options makes the battery life fall significantly. Wireless surfing using WLAN was possible for two hours and 14 minutes. We could also watch a movie for around 2 hours and 4 minutes. Under heavy load (Classic Test by Battery Eater), the XMG P501 lasted longer than most classic gaming notebooks (with maximum brightness and deactivated energy saving): 1 hour and 38 minutes. Overall, the GeForce GTX 580M does not grant the user extensive mobility and would be better suited for stationary devices. Note: in our test with the GeForce GTX 560M the battery life of the 15 inch laptop was barely higher. What is left to say about the GeForce GTX 580M? Yes, this graphic card is without a doubt the new king of performance, and, yes, thanks to its various features and the better picture quality, the graphic card can distinguish itself from its main AMD competition. apple a1185 battery The GeForce GTX 580M increases Nvidia's lead in performance but the high price might be a problem for some buyers.Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS However, as can be seen from Intel's best CPUs (the Extreme series), supreme performance comes at a high price. This high-end graphic card is designed for gamers with thick wallets.apple a1175 battery Potential buyers need to check a few features before making their purchase.apple a1189 battery Users will be confronted by a high noise emission (very distracting), unless the manufacturer of the laptop invents an ingenious cooling system. The temperature emissions of the card are also very high, acer aspire 5920 battery and the cooling system will have to turn up to the maximum to keep the graphic card temperatures from going too high.acer aspire 5050 battery Price-conscious gamers should look at other graphic solutions besides the GTX 580M. For example, acer aspire 5100 battery Schenker offers the AMD Radeon HD 6970M for a very good price-to-performance ratio. So, the Nvidia GTX 580M will probably only be found in special gaming notebooks which cost more than 2,000 Euros.acer aspire 5100 battery

Review Asus K53SV-SX131V Notebook
Interfaces are provided by the Asus K53SV on the left and right sides.Sony VGP-BPS9/S battery At the front is a card reader, and at the back there are no interfaces. A muddle of cables next to the laptop seems to be unavoidable due to the location of the ports, if many external devices are used. Altogether the model only offers three USB 2.0 ports. Sony VGP-BPS9 battery There are no eSATA or more up to date USB 3.0 ports available. In order to enjoy watching HD movies on an external monitor, there are a VGA output as well as an HDMI interface available.Sony VGP-BPS9A/B battery The possibilities to connect to a network or to communicate with other devices are more on the sparse side. Sony VGP-BPS9A/S battery The Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Gigabyte LAN) makes it possible to connect a LAN cable,Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery while wireless LAN is made possible by the Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (bgn). Bluetooth or a UMTS module are unfortunately missing completely. At the very least Bluetooth would have been a real advantage in this device category.Sony VGP-BPS13 battery Asus provides a 24 month warranty with pickup & return (battery 1 year) for this model in the K-series.Sony VGP-BPS13A/Q battery
The extension of the warranty to 36 months is possible for an
additional 80 Euros. The warranty extension has to be activated within
the first 90 days though.Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery The chiclet keyboard has a complete alpha-numeric keypad.Sony VGP-BPS13B/B batteryThe
somewhat smaller keys have a generous distance between them, but are a
little slippery. To make up for this the pressure point is nicely crisp
though. The keys have a rather hard end stop, and a medium key travel.
Frequent typers should be able to get used to the included chiclet
keyboard over time.Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q battery The 15.6 inch display has a model description of CPT14C7.Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery
The HD panel has a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Higher
resolutions are possible with an external display. The panel has a 16:9
aspect ratio, and has a reflective surface. The contrast of the
glare-type display lies at a mere 181:1, and thus makes it into the
average range of comparable devices at the best of times.Sony VGP-BPS13/Q battery With PCMark Vantage as well as the new Benchmark-Tool PCMark 7 from Futuremark, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery
we tested the application performance of the K53SV. In PCMark Vantage
the score of 6043 points was enough to nudge into the mid-range of our
test database,Sony VGP-BPS8A battery
surrounded by comparable configurations. With the latest release of
PCMark 7 the Asus notebook falls back a little though. In this case the
test database doesn't contain many entries yet however.Sony VGP-BPS10 battery As usual we proceeded to test the graphics performance with the aid of the benchmark series 3DMark.Sony VGP-BPS2 battery
In this case the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M scored the typical results for
this graphics card. With 3DMark Vantage the tested device managed to
score 4170 points in total. The Schenker XMG A501 (W150HRM) notebook
only managed a significantly better result (5357) with an Nvidia GeForce
GT 555M using the same processor.Sony VGP-BPS2A batteryThe
Asus K53SV nevertheless lingers amongst the upper third of devices in
our test database. The gaming suitability was additionally tested by us
using current games with different settings.Sony VGP-BPS2B battery The included hard drive from Western Digital provides an ample capacity of 640 GBytes.Sony VGP-BPS2C battery
The model WD6400BPVT-80HXZT1 has a rotational speed of 5400 rpm. We
tested the performance of the hard drive with HD Tune 2.55 and
CrystalDiskMark 3. The 2.5 inch HDD nudges into the mid-range of our
test database.Sony VGP-BPS22 battery
The average transfer rate lies at 63.6 MB/s. Slow access times of 20.2
milliseconds don't speak in favor of the hard drive either, since there
are several faster models available on the market.Sony VGP-BPS22A battery During the course of our benchmark tests,Sony VGP-BPS13AS battery particularly
with more demanding games such as BF:BC2, a very inconsistent series of
results were observed when carrying out the same benchmarks more than
once. This could be an indication of thermal throttling.Sony VGP-BPS13S battery As already mentioned the Asus K53SV makes use of the IceCool technologySony VGP-BPS13/S battery. This is supposed to keep the surfaces, and particularly the palm resting area, cool at all times. In an idle state the case does indeed stay relatively cool on the top surface with an average of 25.2 degrees Celsius, as well as the bottom surface with an average of 25.1 degrees Celsius.Sony VGP-BPS13B/S battery The consequence of the higher performance is an increased heat dissipation.Sony VGP-BPS10/B battery Using a stress test we tested an increased heat dissipation as a result of higher performance demands. In this case the Asus notebook still stays relatively cool around the palm resting area though, and we didn't measure more than 30.6 degrees Celsius.Sony VGP-BPS10A battery On average the top surface heats up to 32.4 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature on the bottom surface lies at 31 degrees Celsius.Sony VGP-BPS10A/B battery In some places the K53SV surface temperature rises to a maximum of 38.4 degrees Celsius when subjected to the maximum load. To sum up we can say that the Asus is on the right way with its IceCool technology.Sony VGP-BPS10/S battery Asus has provided a 6 cell battery with 5200 mAh of capacity for the mobile use of the 15 inch notebook.Sony VGP-BPS21/S battery In an idle state the Asus K53SV managed 5 hours and 17 minutes with the Battery Eater Readers test (min. display brightness, WLAN disabled). Under load the notebook managed 1 hour and 24 minutes with the Classic test from Battery Eater.Sony VGP-BPS21/B battery In practical office use (WLAN surfing) the K53SV stayed powered for 4 hours and 16 minutes. dell vostro 1710 battery
When playing back a DVD the notebook managed to stay on its feet for 3
hours and 29 minutes with the maximum brightness. With these results the
Asus is ranked among the upper mid-range multimedia notebook
competitors.dell vostro 1720 battery The observed power consumption was confirmed by the measured battery life.Dell Vostro 1310 battery
Merely 12 Watts is required by the K53SV in the Quiet Office Mode.
Under load the power consumption rises, but this varied considerably
during the stress test with Prime95 and Furmark, between 60.5 Watts and
91.6 Watts. This is a further indication for throttling. Dell Vostro 1510 battery As long as the system only had to contend with Furmark, the requirements of the system were 66.7 Watts.Dell Inspiron 1545 battery The Asus K53SV multimedia notebook in its SX131V version left a mixed impression.dell xps m1530 battery For a price of around 800 Euros buyers receive a useful device, which does have its weaknesses though. What was able to impress us was the stable case made of aluminum.Dell inspiron 1721 battery The palm resting area never gets too warm thanks to the IceCool technology. The system noise is also a positive aspect. What dulls the good impression is the reflective display with a meager brightness, and narrow viewing angles. dell vostro 1700 battery Interfaces such as USB 3.0 and an ExpressCard slot are both missed with the Asus K53SV. Bluetooth would also be favorable for the notebook, but is absent in the K53SV.dell latitude e4300 battery The performance of the mainstream model with an Intel Core i5 2410M 2.3 GHz, as well as an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M,dell latitude e5500 battery appears to be sufficient for most application scenarios. Unfortunately we were able to notice a considerable throttling in high load situations as well as with demanding games.dell xps m1730 battery For normal users this will unlikely have any significant impact though, gaming aficionados be warned.dell studio 1737 battery Equipped with a Blu-ray drive there are no obstacles to the pleasure of high resolution movies, dell latitude e5400 battery
with the exception of the included HD display panel. Despite several
drawbacks the Asus K53SV could definitely be interesting for some users.dell inspiron e1505 battery
Review Motorola Xoom WiFi/UMTS Tablet/MID
ZOOM ZOOM.The first 10.1" Motorola tablet goes by the name XOOM. Nothing could possibly go wrong, one would think. If Motorola applies their know-how from smart phones, Dell inspiron 6400 battery touch interfaces and the Android operating system in the Xoom Tablet correctly, the Xoom should be one of the best sellers in summer 2011. Dell inspiron 1501 battery There are currently loads of tablet-PCs with Adroid on the market. But the Motorola offers something new.Dell vostro 1000 battery The Xoom is (still) one of the first tablets based on Android 3.0 (honeycomb). This operating system is a version optimized specifically for Android 3.0. This processor is at the same time responsible for graphics. In terms
of connectivity the Xoom has WiFi on the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard,
Bluetooth with EDR+ support and mobile internet access with a 3G-SIM
card. The internal memory is dimensioned quite generously with 32
GBytes. That's a good thing since the integrated microSD-slot is not
yet usable with the current Release 3.0 of the Android operating system.Dell latitude d820 battery Could easily pass for an Apple productIn terms of its looks, the Xoom could easily pass as an older product from Apple. Dell latitude d830 battery
The chassis is kept in black and silver and with its slightly curved
metal back, it boasts a similarly good look and feel as the apple
pendant. The display on the Motorola tablet is sightly larger with a
10.1 display diagonal, dell studio 17 battery
which means that one has to accept a bit more weight. The Xoom tips the
scales at a hefty 730g which we could definitely notice in testing.
There is also additional 280g or so for the charger. As a comparison:

with Windows XP. hp compaq 6710b battery The device is operated almost exclusively by way of the 10.1" display.compaq presario cq60 battery The individual apps are started and controlled with one's finger. If the user wants to make text inputs, a virtual keyboard is displayed and takes up a around half of the screen. Touching the virtual keys results in an immediate reaction. Sometimes this is even too fast, meaning that double inputs occur. IBM thinkpad r60e battery Some apps also support voice entry, which means that instead of a text input, Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery spoken words are recognized and set into the relevant fields. This works quite well with the Xoom and Android 3.0. Lenovo thinkpad t60 battery Text inputs via Swipe, which we got a chance to familiarize ourselves with on the Dell's Streak,Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery is not supported on the Motorola Xoom in its delivered state. Apart from the three outer buttons (volume control and on/off buttons), all other controls are inside the display screen.IBM thinkpad X60S battery But, that has both its advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages is that the number of virtual "function keys" can be expanded as needed. The functions can also be changed individually by the applications or the operating system. Lenovo thinkpad t500 battery A disadvantage would be that the keys only function when the display is turned on.Lenovo thinkpad t61 battery If the Xoom is for instance in stand-by-mode, the user has to always press the on/off button on the back in order to use the keys. On similar devices with controls on the side, at least one of these additional buttons can bring the pad back to life. Lenovo thinkpad r61 battery The arrangement of the controls is straight-forward.Lenovo thinkpad t400 battery
Application icons are set up above and to the left, such as for
instance the symbol for the voice recognition. A quick-start key for
jumping to installed applications is found in the upper right. System

time and battery charge are situated on the lower right. The most
important area is the lower left: Here you find the icons for back,
home, task manager and, when available, an icon for options. Lenovo x300 battery A further control allows the whole pad to be used. The Xoom has multiple sensors available which react to movement,Lenovo x200 battery
acceleration, elevation, orientation and volume. These sensors are
mainly used in gaming, like when steering the game character (bar,
plane, orb etc.) through the individual levels. Lenovo 3000 v100 battery The content on the display rotates depending on the device's position. Lenovo 3000 v200 battery This allows websites to be read in the optimal landscape format while settings are shown preferably in the portrait mode. However, the rotating display is not support in all apps. Lenovo 3000 c200 battery The level of black was measured with 0.22 Candela per square meter (of brightness).Fujitsu lifebook t4210 battery The maximum contrast ratio was an outstanding 1491:1 which we measured in the central display area. Our testing image even stood up brilliantly to inclinations of over 45
degrees. Even turning the test image to the side whilst tilting it
didn't seem to have any effect. apple a1175 battery The CPU always worked rapidly with only 216 MHz (on a tester)Those assuming that the CPU runs continuously with 1000 MHz would be wrong. CPU-throttling has also crept into tablets, apple a1185 battery even though manufacturers have failed to present this feature to the public. apple a1189 battery The Tegra-2 processor works in the clocking-frequencies: 216, 312, 456, 608, 760, 816, 912, and 1000 MHz. The applications decide themselves at which clocking speed they want to run. The CPU-clocking speed varies within the application depending on the CPU's load. acer aspire 5920 battery We would have surely overlooked this as all the applications run equally well apart from the few which crashed. As more and more tools become available for Android system, acer aspire 5050 battery we happened to come across the "CPU Spy" tool. With this one can determine with which clocking frequency the CPU is running. This records all frequencies with are supported with information about the time of use. acer aspire 5100 battery We found out that the Tegra 2 CPU in the Xoom prefers the low clocking speed of 216 MHz.acer aspire 5100 battery The 1000 MHz is then only needed when games with intense graphics (Angry Birds Rio or Air Attack HD) are in use. Sony VGP-BPS9/S battery Tens of thousands of games for Adroid are offered in the various download portals (App-Stores).Sony VGP-BPS9 battery Several of these are even available for free and many demo-versions can also be found in the App-Store. But most cost a few euros, which are far from as expensive as the games for gaming consoles or PC/MACs. These even sometimes cost up to 50 Euros per game. Sony VGP-BPS9A/B battery Everything is different with Android. But note: Not every game runs on the Xoom and note every game uses the entire display screen or its resolutionSony VGP-BPS9A/S battery As most games are (still) conceived for a smartphone, it may be the case that only a certain area of the display screen is used as a gaming space. Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery In most cases the manufacturer fails to note this before starting an (at-cost) download.Sony VGP-BPS13 battery
You should therefore always check out the demo-version first in order
to see if the desired game also runs in the full-screan mode on the
Xoom. Otherwise you will often be bitterly disappointed. Sony VGP-BPS13A/Q battery In testing the Xoom failed as a video player in almost every respect.Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery Our test videos (avi, wmv and mkv) only ran in a very jerky fashion or weren't recognized at all. Some videos got hung up right after starting. The device sometimes has to even be turned off and on again in order for it to function smoothly. Sony VGP-BPS13B/B battery With the pre-installed YouTube-App one has direct access to a range
of short films up to free trailers or episodes of TV series on the
familiar video platform.Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q battery These ran smoothly, and as long as its available, also well in High Definition (HD). Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery
